I’ve been obsessed with photography since I was twelve, yet for years I was oddly intimidated by the analogue world. My only reference point was the disposable cameras my parents handed us for special occasions—zoo trips, birthday parties, moments meant to be remembered but not overthought.
In 2023, I finally decided to expand my repertoire and step into what felt like a now-elusive medium. The surprise came quickly: once I picked up my first film camera, I was hooked. My digital cameras started collecting dust.
Film demands a different kind of presence. There’s an urgency to executing your vision when every frame matters—when a mistake costs you time, money, and the entire roll. There’s no “spray and pray,” no instant feedback to reassure you that you got the shot. Just intention, patience, and trust.
After fifteen years of working behind a camera, film made me feel like a beginner again—in the best way. It slowed me down, sharpened my instincts, and forced me to be deeply thoughtful not just about what I was photographing, but how I was capturing each frame.
